The best method to find a lot of runes, or about anything else in Diablo II, is to get a lot of item drops. Larger games with more number of players offer gamers the best opportunity to gain more runes.
The idea of playing any game is to get into the characters and understand the game they way the designer made it.
What are Diablo II Runes?
Those acquainted with the game Diablo II try to gather runes. To quote, "A rune is a small item which can be placed inside socketed items for bonuses to a wide array of different stats and abilities".
Runes can also make runewords, that are a powerful coming together of runes, on fulfillment of certain conditions:
The quantity of sockets in the item must match the amount of sockets required for the runeword. If there are plenty of them, the runeword won't work.
The item type must match the requirement as well. While some runewords only work in weapons, others work in armors etc. Plus the runes must be inserted in the correct sequence.
One can upgrade runes to higher runes using the Horadric Cube. Runes such as El through Ort are upgradeable likewise to gems by planting three of the same type in the cube and accepting one of a higher grade in return.
Those runes on a higher level can also be upgraded, but need an additional gem as well. Those wishing to upgrade to runes higher in level than Dol can do so only on closed B.Net with ladder characters, or by a single player character.
Players engaged in gaming with Diablo II are obsessed with gaining higher level runes. But this isn’t a mean task, since there's no way to use any tools to increase the odds of finding more runes, or higher level runes. The Magic Find tool either has no effect on rune drops, either quality or quantity; hence the only way to find runes is to kill lots of monsters in larger games, so more total items drop.
